This is the Area of our Website Dedicated to answering questions of people who aren't yet students of the Shao-Lin Do Center.
So, if you've managed to get yourself here, it stands to reason that you've got at least some interest in trying out a Martial Art.
First thing, read up on what we do, check out our Class Descriptions to see what a regular class is like.
So the next question is what are you really looking for?
If you're an Adult looking for a Martial Art then the short answer is to come try us out, the first week is always free. Monday's at 6:00 are usually the best time to try a class, you get at least an hour long workout. You don't need to wait for a specific date, we just roll you into the class and catch you up as we go along. If you come in while we're learning the end part of some of our Material, we'll split you off with some new people or some upper ranks and pound the basics until the whole class starts something new. Just come to the School, wear something loose and cool (but not revealing or too loose, you will be moving and stretching etc). If you need Directions, click Here.
If you're an Adult looking for a fun way to exercise, loose weight and give yourself some quality self defense, then see above, becuase you're an Adult looking for a Martial Art.
If you're looking for something a little more serious and to really improve your self defense or even to start training to fight in the Sanshou Ring, then you'll want to try out our Kung Fu classes (Monday) and our Sanshou Classes (Thursday). Thursday classes are included in the monthly price and are open to all Students in the Adult program. We fight with control and with smiles on our faces. For more information on our Sparring Class or our Iron Bone / Iron Body See Class Descriptions.
If you're a Parent looking for a class for their child to improve their health, self esteem, discipline and self defense then again the short answer is to come try it out. There are no set times for new kids to enroll, we just bring them in and catch them up as we go.
We have three age groups, they're all on Wednesday, See the Schedule for more Information.
Again the first week is free, and we especially encourage the kids to come try it out to see if they like the style and the way we run our classes. We teach our children to listen and we teach them good Kung Fu and we do it without screaming at them like so many cliche Martial Art Groups, we're serious when we need to be and we work the whole half hour, but we have a lot of fun while doing it.
If you're still hesitant then feel fee to Ask any questions you may have Here, we also have Common New Student Questions to the Right and if you'd like, less common questions in our FAQ, or if you'd like to come in and Observe a Class, you're more than welcome to, just show up to the class you'd like to watch, it might help to familiarize yourself with the Schedule Here.
Now, after reading all this and hopefully more, maybe even trying a class or two out and you've decided you want to join up with us and continue your training, then the next step is to Sign Up. This is not a Contract, it's something every student fills out, it's just for liablity and for contact information in case of a class change or an emergency. You can fill this out online, Here, or in person at the school.
