What Happens in a Reiki Session
Reiki sessions are an hour long and are held in private at the Shao-Lin Do Center. The client comfortably lays fully clothed on a massage table while the practioner gently aligns their energy fields, gently touching the client along multiple locations and hovering over other locations. Several times throughout the session the practioner will move over the clients body a few inches above them to asess their entire energy system feeling for irregularites and blockages. When irregularities or blockages are found much time is spent smoothing out these meridians or chakras.
The experience is usually very relaxing and peaceful, often times people fall asleep. When done most clients report an increased sense of well being and increased energy levels along with reduced pain and anxienty. Though when there are great blockages to be removed or a lot of clearing is done some people do become very emotional due to the mind body connection.
Everyone's experience of Reiki is different, one should not go into a session with expectations, rather you should be open to whatever possibilities happen. But also if you are having a specific problem, inform your practitioner of that problem so that they can focus more on that area and move forward with corresponding intent.
Reiki is not a magical healing force, it is a very real and simple act of helping someone bring their body's energy system back to balance, it is not intended to treat or diagnose any disease or illness, but many have had very positive benefits from Reiki. Reiki has helped to treat people with all kinds of ailments like depression, anxienty, chronic pain, migraines or stomach problems to name just a few.
There have been many studies done on Reiki and hospitals locally and all over the country have Reiki Practitioners on hand to help patients.
